29 January 1976, Queen performed their first of two consecutive evenings at The Boston Music Hall, Boston, Massachusetts ๐บ๐ธ โA Night At The Operaโ Tour
This was a completely sold-out show!
In a radio interview done before the show, Brian once stated that Boston was the first city in the States that really embraced Queen. He mentioned a spot on Newbury Street where he often saw many Queen fans.
Roger Taylor would later recall that places like Boston, Detroit, and Cleveland were where the band first began to take off. The process of becoming popular was much different in the US than it was in England, since there was so much more physical land to conquer, and they had to do so city by city. Also figuring into the equation is the fact that the Bohemian Rhapsody video gained much airplay and gave the band great exposure (England had Top Of The Pops, and Australia had Countdown), but there was no equivalent in the US until MTV emerged in 1981.
