I think all the words about how great a performer he was have been used up. I just used to stand and watch him every night thinking, ‘How do you do that? Just how do you get away with it?’ It was the onstage Freddie that was most fearless. He believed in what he and the band were doing so much. He never projected the slightest fear or self-doubt and that just swept the audience along with him. He just knew that the show was going to work. He was made for the stage. His sense of theatricality was the key, and it was a key which so very few other rock performers have at their disposal.” โ™ฅ๏ธ-The following is from Freddieโ€™s personal bodyguard: โ€œWe made it back into California, and that was cool because there were so many fans in California. Weโ€™d already played Oakland and San Francisco. Now we were getting ready to play the ultimate place, and that was the Forum. The LA Forum back in the eighties, that was it. You knew that you had reached the pinnacle when you had an opportunity to be in the Forum under any circumstances as a performer. I had always heard about going into Los Angeles, playing the Forum. Queen, being the show that it was, I could only imagine the kind of so-called A-liners or top notch people in the businessโ€”performers, actors, or whateverโ€”who would come to check them out. We had an opportunity to see a lot of great people come out and visit. Our very first night of playing was very interesting because many of Freddieโ€™s friends that he hadnโ€™t seen in a long time came. We played a coupe of shows. I had no idea until after the show, the Jacksonsโ€™ were there! That was unbelievable – to have Marlon, Randy, and Jermaine there. It was wonderful to be able to see artists coming out to visit a Queen tour. That was just outstanding! I really always admired the Jacksonsโ€™. I couldnโ€™t even imagine what it would be like to be one of their security people. But then again, I was very humbled to see them. They were very down-to-earth. They all came backstage and visited with the band members and hung out for a little bit. There was nothing overboard by anybody, but we didnโ€™t have too many overboard things in the Queen hospitality room over the whole tour. So it was a pleasure to know that I had worked for a great organization on that North American 1982 Queen tour. โ€œBy Victor โ€œVicโ€ Robinson – โ€œNever Say Neverโ€Security Detail / bodyguard for Freddie Mercury during 1982 North American Hot Space Tour**Queen made one more stop in New York City to guest star on the famous TV variety show, Saturday Night Live a week later. They performed two major hit songs! **It was a rather sad farewell to America. In the following years , Queen would play on the most important stages in the world, selling out football stadiums, never returning to North America ๐Ÿ˜žThe pictures was taken during this show!
